The performance and endurance blend contains two novel ingredients know to improve performance and reduce fatigue…Beta-O™ and LOLA (L-Ornithine L-Aspartate). Beta-O is a synergistic combination of beta-alanine and orotic acid. While it is well known that supplementing with beta-alanine is a highly effective means of increasing muscle carnosine content which helps buffer the negative side effects of hydrogen ion accumulation in muscles as exercise intensity increases; it is lesser know that orotic acid may also help increase intramuscular carnosine levels. So why combine the two together? Because beta-alanine is also used in the body for protein synthesis and cellular repair this sometimes mean there is less available for carnosine synthesis, making it take longer to saturate muscle carnosine levels to the point where an ergogenic effect is achieved. Orotic acid picks up the slack for beta-alanine and directly supports carnosine synthesis in times of elevated growth and cellular regeneration (such as repairing muscle after hard training). The end result? Carnosine levels may be saturated more quickly when beta-alanine and orotic acid are combined. While it typically takes 4-6 weeks for beta-alanine to increase carnosine levels and have a performance enhancing effect; this time may be reduced when combined with orotic acid.
What’s more orotic acid has an acute effect on ATP (energy) production. As we all know ATP is the energy currency of the body that when depleted decreases the energy generating capacity of muscle. Orotic acid can maintain ATP in three different ways and more ATP means better performance. First orotic acid aids in elevating intramuscular glycogen stores which leads to enhanced capacity for ATP resynthesis from anaerobic glycolysis. Secondly it increases the pool of UMP (Uridine Monophosphate) which spares ATP from being used to synthesize certain nucleotides; thereby leaving more ATP to produce energy and other metabolic processes key to optimal exercise performance. Lastly orotic acid can enhance the supply of ribose-5-phosphate (important in energy producing pathways) which results in greater ATP regeneration.
The second ingredient found in the performance and endurance blend, L-Ornithine L-Asparate (LOLA), is an amino acid primarily used to reduce ammonia concentrations in the blood. As we exercise ammonia levels slowly increase in skeletal muscle. This increase inhibits muscle protein contractility and induces muscular fatigue. Research has shown LOLA can decrease ammonia concentrations in the blood ultimately allowing you to exercise harder for longer.
The ingredients found in the pump and vascularity blend definitely need no introduction as they have stood the test of time as ergogenic aids. L-citrulline, agmatine sulfate, and glycerol have all been proven to increase blood vessel dilation and produce a fuller muscular appearance; all leading to improved performance through increased blood and nutrient delivery to the working muscles and the almighty “pump”.
Citrulline is a crucial cofactor in the production of arginine and nitric oxide. It’s been shown to relax blood vessels, improve blood flow and raise overall nitric oxide levels. Citrulline is also an energy booster backed by research. One study reported that subjects consuming citrulline malate for 15 days experienced a 35% increase in ATP (energy) production during exercise.
Agmatine sulfate is a byproduct of Arginine through decarboxylation. Since decarboxylated arginine cannot be broken down in the liver and it increases blood flow to working muscles through vasodilation. Furthermore, Agmatine has also been shown to manipulate pain receptors which may allow you to train past normal pain thresholds.
Last but not least glycerol has been shown to enhance plasma and intramuscular volume expansion. This hyper-hydration produces a full, hard muscular appearance that can also increase exercise performance. In fact, the cellular swelling that occurs with the glycerol supplementation may increase protein synthesis while also decreasing protein breakdown within the cell. This creates an optimal environment for muscle growth. If these two benefits were not enough, it also creates fascial stretching which gives the muscle more room to grow over time.
The third blend found in HyperMaxXT, as the name implies on the label, contains ingredients to ramp up energy and focus.
