Caffeine is a stimulant found in nature, in many different products. It has been said that about 90% of Americans use caffeine or caffeine based products daily. As mentioned, Caffeine is a stimulant, but more specifically a central nervous system stimulant. Caffeine is used to reduce fatigue, restore alertness, promote faster and clearer thought, and generally better body coordination.
In athletes caffeine has been found to improve athletic performance in both areas of explosiveness and endurance. Paraxanthine, a metabolite of caffeine, has the effect of increasing lipolysis, leading to fat loss.
